And if it does affect the economy, we’ll find a way to extract a profit from it….
Driven mostly by rising global temperatures from the continued burning of fossil fuels, extreme weather events such as typhoons, hurricanes, floods, heatwaves and drought are becoming more frequent, increasing 83% worldwide in the past 20 years (as of 2020), and the costs have increased by 800% over that same period. In 2023, the world has witnessed the highest ocean surface temperature, lowest Antarctic sea ice extent ever recorded, and hottest summer. Physicist Time Garrett likens these extreme weather events to a roving beast that makes no place safe and will eventually bring down civilization:
I feel like we expected climate change to be this gradual thing we’d be challenged to adjust to. Instead, it’s more like a roving beast. We never know when it will strike, where, or even how, just that eventually it will come for us too…At some point this roving beast will pounce often enough that civilization will lose its capacity to repair climate damages even as they accelerate. By being squeezed at both ends, a point will arrive at which civilization tips towards collapse. ~ Prof Tim Garrett
And so it is that modern civilization appears on the surface to be very robust at sustaining itself, but not when the shocks are coming at us more frequently and with growing intensity. To quote Luke Kemp, aka ‘Dr. Doom’, a research affiliate at the Center for the Study of Existential Risk at the University of Cambridge and a visiting faculty fellow at the Notre Dame Institute for Advanced Studies:
…that is potentially my biggest fear going forward: I think our homogenized, interconnected world is very good at buffering against small shocks. But it’s much more likely to amplify a sufficiently large shock into a system-wide crisis.
Experts call it ‘flickering’ when a complex system starts to briefly sample a new regime before tipping into it. Multiple extremes of varying kinds happening at the same time are clear warnings of climate tipping points. Tim Lenton, University of Exeter climate researcher, believes the extraordinary events we are seeing today could be an early warning of tipping towards a new and more inhospitable climate system.
What happens in the oceans does not stay in the oceans. This year, the oceans have hit their hottest ever recorded temperature. Warming oceans are having many harmful effects such as decimating fisheries, altering marine life migration patterns, robbing phytoplankton and zooplankton as well as the rest of the oceanic ecosystem of a key food supply by preventing nutrient-rich deep ocean water upwelling from occurring, and increasing the frequency and intensity of harmful algal blooms. Warming oceans also play a crucial role in shaping land weather patterns. Increased sea surface temperatures can lead to more frequent and intense heatwaves by altering atmospheric circulation patterns in ways that enhance drought conditions. Warming oceans provide more moisture to evaporate into the atmosphere and fuel more powerful atmospheric rivers. Libya just experienced the deadliest flood of the 21st Century, with 7,000 confirmed dead and up to 20,000 more feared dead in the eastern city of Derna. 25% of the city is estimated to be destroyed after two dams collapsed due to extreme rainfall.
What happens in the Antarctic does not stay in the Antarctic. A record low minimum extent of Antarctic sea ice this summer has left an area of open ocean bigger than Greenland. If this “missing” sea ice were a country, it would be the tenth largest in the world. The recent discovery that emperor penguin colonies experienced unprecedented breeding failure in Antarctica due to total sea ice loss in 2022 supports predictions that over 90% of emperor penguin colonies will be quasi-extinct by the end of the century. Emperor penguins have largely been sheltered from the ravages of man, except for human-induced climate change. This does not bode well for Homo sapiens since the cryosphere plays a vital role in the climate system. The polar regions are known as Earth’s refrigerator and they regulate climate, weather patterns, and maritime food supplies.
The planet’s cooling system is broken. The June–August 2023 global surface temperature was 2.07°F (1.15°C) above the 20th-century average of 60.1°F (15.6°C). This ranks as the warmest June–August period since records began 174 years ago. The hot, dry and windy conditions that fuelled the historic wildfires in Quebec Canada were made at least twice as likely due to human-induced climate change. As of this week, the Canadian wildfires have spewed 410 million metric tons of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere, roughly the equivalent of Mexico’s 2021 emissions. The IPCC models assumed that those forests would continue to be a carbon sink.
For the first time ever, scientists have quantified all nine planetary boundaries which make Earth habitable and six of them have already been transgressed while two of the remaining three are close to being breeched. Most worrisome for the scientists is that all four boundaries that cover the biological world are at or near critical levels. Without them, we are much less resilient. Lest we forget, humanity’s conundrum is an overshoot of nearly every safe environmental boundary that allowed humans to survive and thrive in the last 10,000 years:
Prof Johan Rockström, the then director of the Stockholm Resilience Centre who led the team that developed the boundaries framework, said: “Science and the world at large are really concerned over all the extreme climate events hitting societies across the planet. But what worries us, even more, is the rising signs of dwindling planetary resilience.”
A study from about year ago (and shortly after my last blog post) states that we may have already activated 5 catastrophic climate tipping points at our current 1.1°C of warming since the Industrial Revolution and that we are likely on the brink of setting off many more once reaching 1.5°C. A cascade of tipping points awaits us:
“This sets Earth on course to cross multiple dangerous tipping points that will be disastrous for people across the world. To maintain liveable conditions on Earth and enable stable societies, we must do everything possible to prevent crossing tipping points”…Prof Johan Rockström, the director of the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research, who was part of the study team, said: “The world is heading towards 2-3°C of global warming.”
The absurdity of our response, or lack thereof, is becoming ever more apparent as conditions continue to deteriorate around us. When a whole industry springs forth to do the clean-up work for disasters while simultaneously investing in Fossil Fuel extraction, the profit-driven pyramid scheme that is modern civilization cannot be more clearly demonstrated. As these extreme weather events ramp up, access to quality water fit for use by humans and ecosystems is expected to decline. The world’s crumbling water infrastructure will only exacerbate these effects. The insurance industry, perhaps the only business venture whose profit depends on a clear-eyed view of the science behind human-induced climate change, is now dropping coverage for the coastlines, floodplains, and wildfire areas as the US breaks the record this year for billion dollar disasters. There are still nearly four months left to go as supercharged hurricanes continue to form in our overheated oceans. With this year’s marked uptick of such extreme weather events, the realization that we are fucked is becoming more obvious to the common layman. A recent blog post from another self-professed ‘doomer’ summarizes the societal angst currently building in our collective consciousness, whispering to us that all is far from right in the world:
This world always had to end. It was never going to last more than a generation. It couldn’t. All the facts made that very clear from the start. The rich and the corrupt simply chose to ignore that. They lied.
That’s not the worst part.
It’s not the collapse.
It’s not the death of our hopes and dreams. It’s the fact that we’re not allowed to grieve it and move on. Imagine trying to grieve the loss of a friend or a parent when half of everyone you know won’t even admit they’re dead. Imagine you’re stuck in a real-life version of Weekend at Bernie’s.
That’s what we’re doing.
It’s the norms that force us to engage in acts of cultural necrophilia. It’s having to pretend for our bosses, our coworkers, our friends, and our relatives. It’s watching everyone we know screw a corpse.
However, as someone in the comment section makes clear, her blog post, while well written, is still very Homo sapien-centric. For most of the nonhuman natural world, their existence ended some time ago:
Great essay but as usual these days it is highly homo sapien centric.
We have already lost more than half, two thirds even, of all life on the planet. World wildlife populations have declined by over 70% since 1970. Wildlife populations in Latin America and the Caribbean plummeting at a staggering rate of 94%.
Freshwater species populations have suffered an 83% fall.
80% of fresh water species decline.
80% of total insect population mass has gone in just the last 30 years.
Soil and the human gut have a direct relationship, as soil microbiome diversity decreases so does the diversity in the human gut microbiome, and with it comes drastic events, such as depletion of sustainable production of food and rise of disease in humans. – Link
All of which is happening now and increasing exponentially.
Indeed, if modern civilization has no regard for the natural world around them and creates a throwaway society in which we are now awash in our own carcinogenic waste, i.e. microplastics, industrial chemicals, pesticides, etc, and gives no consideration to the lives of future generations, one cannot be blamed for having little hope that humanity can steer this wayward ship away from its omnicidal course. Noam Chomsky is no more optimistic when he states: “Now, we are at the point when the major institutions of organized society are intent on destroying organized human life on Earth and the millions of other species.” Surely no one in charge can truly believe with a straight face that humans can maintain their overpopulated numbers even to mid century, let alone sustain any sort of organized society by century’s end. At least one scientist is on the right track in voicing the inevitability of a major human population correction. We’ll leave behind a rather toxic but interesting fossil layer in the geologic strata for the Anthropocene epoch of Fire and Flood.

Most people do not realize that it takes millions of years to come out these extinction periods the last 2 extinction periods was 100 million years between them. This one is not only going faster but it my guess it will take much longer to come out of since this one is very different fro the last 4 extinction periods geologically.

The average recovery time after a “mass extinction” is 10 million years, but I can’t find a concrete definition of mass extinction. I thought it was a min 75% > of all species, but the most recent claim {2021} for a newly uncovered {atypical} mass extinction does not reach 75%> although it’s still a major shake up. I once had a bunch of material on extinctions, but that HDD fried.
Previously Unknown Mass Extinction Occurred 30 Million Years Ago in Africa and Arabia
Nearly 63% of Afro-Arabian mammalian species went extinct approximately 30 million years ago (Oligocene epoch), after Earth’s climate shifted from swampy to icy.

Newly discovered mass extinction event triggered the dawn of the dinosaurs

“Huge volcanic eruptions 233 million years ago pumped carbon dioxide, methane and water vapour into the atmosphere. This series of violent explosions, on what we now know as the west coast of Canada, led to massive global warming. Our new research has revealed that this was a planet-changing mass extinction event that killed off many of the dominant tetrapods and heralded the dawn of the dinosaurs. ”

Food prices continue to skyrocket…and I assume the increasing food prices are unintentionally reducing the demand for food…thus delaying the collapse of industrial civilization for a few extra years. I don’t know when NTHE will arrive…I don’t think it will arrive on a specific date i.e. 2026 or 2030. However, I can assure that food prices will be much, much higher by 2026 or 2030 than right now…and food is already rapidly becoming unaffordable to most people. Catastrophic, global famine is already beginning…it just hasn’t reached the point where NTHE has arrived (yet).
Of course, malnutrition for the human species is steadily increasing. Fewer and fewer people can earn enough money to afford an adequete amount of food to eat. And all of the food we eat these days is just GMO-tainted, fossil-based industrial crap…just empty calories with increasingly-poor nutritional content. It is becoming increasingly obvious that it is not possible to sustain 8,000,000,000+ people without fossil-based, industrial agriculture.
It is already too late to prevent NTHE from happening. And our industrial society is already too dysfunctional and atomized to find pleasure from communal and sustainable living. Just enjoy your time with your close family members and close friends (if you still have any)…don’t fool yourself into thinking that industrial civilization will provide anyone with a friendly and comfortable life. In our society, it is everyone for themselves…it is a man-eat-man rat race, with everyone struggling to survive at someone else’s expense. We don’t have anymore “community”…it is just a rat race, where everyone is trying to swindle and scam someone else.

Just FYI, there is virtually no limits to the exploitation and abuse that our global economy can expose its citizens to. The only “limit” is that people under a certain age (i.e. “underaged” or “minor” people) cannot be employed in certain occupations. Once you are past a certain age (usually 16 or 18 years old), there is (virtually) no social safety net for you. So in other words, you need to submit yourself to (wage)slavery once you are an adult…unless your parents are still providing you with an income.
As for “minimum wage”, that is mostly an oxymoron…because employers (very frequently) pay workers significiantly below minimum wage…even in areas where minimum wage laws exist. Many full-time workers are paid significiantly less money than what the job contract promised. Yet, they have no choice but to accept such detrimental working conditions, because the alternative is much worse…no job, meaning no income, meaning no money to afford anything, meaning death from starvation.

One of the most irreconciable contradictions of capitalism is its constant need to increase consumption/production/revenues, yet its constant need to reduce costs (and hence reduce the number of people that are employed/earning an income). The poor and unemployed people are not “lazy”. Unemployment and poverty is unavoidable, under capitalism, because of this thing called “surplus value” and the “profit motive”. There is a constant need to reduce the number of people who are employed (and hence increase the number of unemployed people) because the production costs (which includes the wages paid to employees) must never exceed the revenues/sales of businesses. Yet the number of people, who need employment and an income, is constantly increasing (due to population growth)…but the jobs available for them is constantly decreasing in availability. Yet the elites/ruling class constantly gaslight the poor and unemployed people for being “lazy” and “unproductive”.
Maybe, its not the fault of the poor and unemployed? Maybe it is the fault of an unjust socio-economic system (aka capitalism) that is failing ever more epically? Especially with peak oil (and resource depletion in general) and climate chaos (and environmental degradation in general) that will ultimately end our global, pyramid scheme economy for good? Which will ultimately cause industrial capitalism to end for good (in the relatively near future)? Yet, the elites pretend that capitalism and industrial civilization will never end.

I don’t want to beat a dead horse, but the grim predictions written in this article (from 1995) are now becoming a reality…
http://web.archive.org/web/20220524111716/https://dieoff.com/page137.htm
Especially what was written in these two following paragraphs….
“””Starvation will be a direct outcome of the depletion of energy resources. Today’s dense population is dependent for its food supply on mechanized agriculture and efficient transportation. Energy is used to manufacture and operate farm equipment, and energy is used to take food to market. As less efficient energy resources come to be used, food will grow more expensive and the circle of privileged consumers to whom an adequate supply is available will continue to shrink.
Social strife is another consequence of the rising cost of commercial energy. Everything people want takes energy to produce, and as energy becomes more expensive, fewer people have access to goods they desire. When goods are plentiful, and particularly when per-capita access to goods is increasing, social tensions are muted: Ethnically diverse populations often find it expedient to live harmoniously, governments may be ineffective and slow to respond, and little force is needed to maintain domestic tranquillity. But when goods become scarce, and especially when per-capita access to goods is decreasing, ethnic tensions surface, governments become authoritarian, and goods are acquired, increasingly, by criminal means.””

As for the topic of economics, this article explains what I suspected to be the truth the whole time…
The following quote sums up the fraud of “Marxism”…
“”Marxism is the controlled opposition against Capitalism, creating what would become the classical dialectic Capitalism vs. Marxism, that the elites use to get to World Governance through managed conflict.”””
See “Marxism” never really existed. It was/is just “controlled opposition” against capitalism, aka the status quo, the whole time…something I suspected for a long time. “Marxism” is used as the “justification” , or excuse, for why there must be unbridled capitalism. I can see this propaganda tactic used by the ruling, class elites 24/7.
Pretend how bad “Marxism” is to justify how “good” capitalism is. The REAL OPPOSITION against capitalism is DOOMERISM…which states the truth about how capitalism runs the world. And why there is nothing coming to save humanity from near term extinction.
I suspect anyone, who denies or omits the reality of overpopulation and resource depletion (i.e peak oil deniers), is just CONTROLLED OPPOSITION, because they are intentionally misleading the masses into thinking that capitalism will never end. Sadly, (virtually) nobody mentions the truth about overpopulation and resource depletion, because these idiots are either unaware or denying the reality of how humanity will become extinct sooner or later (and probably much sooner than almost anyone could have predicted). I suspect these morons/ charlatans have too much invested in the status quo to admit the reality of NTHE…

Great line. Now the species gets to experience the consequences of what capitalism has done to the planet. No bailouts for gamblers.

Much to my surprise, (almost) nobody “analysizing” capitalism mentions the true essence of capitalism …which is usury. In other words, you have to pay back more money than the amount of money you burrowed (from a bank). The only person, who directly links capitalism to usury, is Michael Ruppert, if I recall correctly. Apparently, it is taboo to link capitalsm to usury, because that is considered “anti-Semitism”. But that is essentially what capitalism is…it is usury.
I don’t think that linking capitalism to usury is anti-Semitic…because the anti-Semitism canard is just a conveninent excuse to shut off any real opposition to the status quo.

You remember the post I made several months ago about the pyramid scheme of consumer capitalism, TR? Let me explain it in a bit more detail. The idea of workers being paid less money than the full value of their labour is only half the story. It is more like workers are actually paid only a small fraction of the full value of their labour…which makes the socio-economic situation even more unfair and unsustainable. The final retail price of goods/foods (and everything else) sold on the market place is AT LEAST SEVERAL HUNDRED PERCENTAGE higher than the wages paid to the workers in retail/supply chains/factories/raw material suppliers/etc. Yet, everyone has to ultimately buy their foods/goods/etc at the retailers (i.e. Walmart, Costco and Amazon) at the end of the global supply chains. The final retail prices (sold at retailers worldwide) is marked up several (or more like many) times higher than the wages paid to workers in any part of the supply chain (i.e. workers in retail, supply chains, factories, etc). How can workers afford to buy foods/goods that are ultimately sold at prices many, many times higher than the wages they are paid? That is ultimate paradox of capitalism.

No, species that systematically destroys its own habitat is sustainable. I doubt there will be anymore humans on this planet by the mid to late 21st century. Humanity’s presence on this planet is clearly not sustainable, so we are most likely gonna be extinct relatively soon. NTHE is, more or less, guranateed because humanity is fundamentally incapable of living in harmony with its environment. In addition to the ridiculous level of human overpopulation and resource depletion.
Climate change is merely a single symptom of the deeper problem, which is humanity’s fundamental unsustainability. Collapse of industrial civilization (CoIC) is guranateed within the next 20 to 30 years…probably much, much sooner than that, given that global oil extraction/net energy is already starting to rapidly decline. And as a result of its collapse, NTHE is almost certainly guranateed. There might be a tiny percentage of survivors…a few hundred to a few thousand people (at best) around the entire world that survive CoIC. But I think that complete human extinction is much more likely than a population bottleneck from CoIC.

The human species is truly a rapacious disease on this planet. Consumer capitalism has already degenerated down to consumption for the sake of consumption. People are buying things for the sake of owning it, rather than using it in any meaningful manner.
Of course, only the relatively rich and priveleged people get to enjoy this copious and wasteful consumption. And these overconsumers are rapidly decreasing in numbers every passing day (contrary to popular belief), because fewer and fewer people are becoming rich…more and more people are falling into abject poverty, and can no longer enjoy any consumption (at all).
However, the ever-decreasing number of rich and priveleged people are enjoying as much wasteful consumption as possible. And an ever-increasing number of poor and under-priveleged get to enjoy dying from poverty and starvation…from the lack of money, to consume (anything) at all.
Oh, don’t forgot to enjoy capitalism, as NTHE arrives closer every passing day.

I (obviously) don’t believe that NTHE will happen by 2026 or 2030 (or some other specific date predicted by Guy McPherson)… because it might not arrive by then. If NTHE doesn’t arrive by 2026 or 2030, that is (most likely) due to the systematic destruction/reduction of demand for fossil fuels (and other finite and nonrenewable resources). I suspect that this viscious demand destruction is already happening right now via the ever-skyrocketing price of food. I suspect that the elites are already desperately delaying CoIC/NTHE (for a few extra years) by systematically destroying the demand for natural resources. And of course, by censoring the reality of CoIC/NTHE on the Internet, and/or spreading misinformation about how industrial civilization will never end.

It is obvious that global human population will not EVER decline, due to low birth rates. Even though birth rates in 2023 are somewhat lower than what they were 50 to 60 years ago, global human population is still exponentially and uncontrollably growing. And it will continue growing, until the day of reckoning (aka CoIC/NTHE) finally happens.
Homo sapiens is no different from bacteria or reindeer, when it comes to population growth. It took humanity several thousand years to reach the point of completely overpopulating the planet…and the crash and die off of global human population is inevitable in the relatively near future. And it will, most likely, result in NTHE.
Really, IMO the climate change debate feels like it designed to intentionally shift people’s attention away from the elephant in the room, which is, of course, human overpopulation. And also the fact that the crash and die off of the absolutely excessive, global human population is 100% inevitable in the near future, since virtually all of the natural resources that sustains that said population are nonrenewable, finite and rapidly running out.

I believe this taboo topic was briefly covered on this humble blog many years ago (if someone could provide me with the links, that would be great. I can’t find those links on my smartphone browser right now).
I am not sure if it is appropriate to discuss it here, but I noticed that the Internet is absolutely full of porn…and that stuff just looks f’ing horrible and vile, to any morally-sane person. Even the so-called legal, 18+ porn looks totally f’ing nasty and immoral. And this is a very bad thing for human society (for the most part). Especially since so many people are being exposed to this poison on the Internet.
I won’t lie. I confess, I have seen porn before. I have also intentionally looked up porn before. I didn’t know it was/is bad (when I was younger), but I now know that is bad. So I avoid it whenever possible.

There is a good reason why birth control is usually discouraged or ignored…our global economy is dependent on an ever-increasing population of human beings. It is obvious that an exponentially-growing population of human beings is making the world increasingly worse. But the end game of capitalism is not improving the quality of human lives. It is simply to continue expanding a global pyramid scheme as far as possible, until it inevitably catastrophically and abruptly collapses.

Don’t be fooled by Wikipedia. It is intentionally being used by the elite, ruling class of the world to mislead (and thus control) the masses. Wikipedia intentionally spreads lies…
For example, they pretend that industrial civilization isn’t completely dependent on fossil fuels (for literally everything) by pretending that there actually exists an alternative energy source to replace fossil fuels (which is, of course, a big fat lie…there obviously is nothing that can replace fossil fuels);
They pretend that fossil fuels (and virtually every other finite and nonrenewable natural resource–i.e. precious metals, Rare Earth Metals, top soil, and minerals–that humans depend on for their continued existence on this planet) isn’t rapidly running out;
They pretend that humans aren’t completing annihilating the natural world via industrial activities;
They pretend that the world isn’t overpopulated by human beings (even though it is obvious that there are too many f’ing humans on this planet. And the inevitable consequences of human population overshoot/overpopulation is the near term extinction of the human species);
They pretend that climate change is not deadily (even though it is already too late to stop abrupt/catastrophic climate change…because the various climate feedback loops and tipping points have already been breached. Even without adding any additional greenhouse gases into the atmosphere from current human industrial activities, the global climate has already been completely destablized by past/recent industrial activities/pollution. The global average temperature in 2023 is already —at least–17oC, which is a full 3.5oC higher than the pre-industrial baseline of 13oC.);
They pretend that human extinction will never happen (even though the truth is, NTHE is literally right on the horizon…most likely less than 10 to 15 years away at this point).
In other words, Wikipedia is nothing but a bunch of big fat, f’ing lies.

The overpopulation problem is extremely obvious. I remember driving to Toronto from Kitchener on the 401 highway, a few days ago. And virtually all of the land surrounding the highways is endless fields of crops/agriculture on the outskirts of the cities (mostly fields of corn and wheat). And once you drive into the suburban/metropolitian areas, it is an endless scenery of houses, shopping malls, strip malls, factories, warehouses, office buildings, apartment buildings and other human buildings. And of course, you also see an endless crowds of people and automobiles on the roads/side walks of cities. And Canada is considered a “low population” country of the world. But it is already very overcrowded/densely populated. I can’t imagine how densely populated the higher-population density areas of the world are like.
I remember visiting New York City (back in 2009). And it was simply unbelievable how overpopulated/overcrowded it was. Just endless hoards of people, crammed onto fifthy streets, jammed packed with tall buildings and automobiles everywhere.

Please, enjoy human/industrial civilization for however much time it has left, because human civilization will permanently end within the relatively near future. It is blatantly obvious that NTHE will happen (of course, the exact date/year when SHTF will happen is still unknown). Just enjoy civilization for however much your lifespan/our civilization’s time is left.

The truth be told is that industrial civilization has already been in perpeutal decline since the late 20th century/beginning of the 21st century. Like I mentioned before, “minor improvements in consumer-product technology and electronic wizardry” is giving people the illusion of on-going “progress”. Sure, 30 years ago, we had fatscreen computer and television monitors. Now, we have slimscreen computer and television monitors as “proof” of our on-going technological “progress”?
But what are we progressing towards? A humanist utopia of abundance and freedom? Nope. We have already reached the state of a technology-addicted dystopian, fascist world of poverty, scarcity and slavery…which is quickly headed towards NTHE, when the global supply chains permanently collapse (in the relatively near future).

I noticed that the price of food started to suddenly and dramatically increase around 2020. And I was not surprised by that at all. Especially since I already knew that global oil extraction reached an all-time peak during the 2010s. And it started to permanently decline around 2018/2019…that is not a temporary decline. This is entering the permanent downwards slide of global oil extraction.
How fast the global supply chains permanently collapse ultimately depends on how fast global oil extraction declines. I would assume that it is declining at a rate of 3 to 4% per year starting from 2018/2019. Which might not seem like much. But after 5 years of decline (at that rate), that is already a 15 to 20% decline from the all-time peak (perhaps an even greater decline since the rate of decline is EXPONENTIAL and NOT LINEAR).
By the end of the 2020s, even at a modest 3% to 4% decline rate per year, global oil extraction would be (at least) 50% less than the all-time peak in 2018. So by 2030, global oil extraction might be down to a measly 45 million barrels per day (mbpd)…half of what it was at its all-time peak of 90 mbpd in 2018. 45 mbpd is what global oil extraction was at back in the 1970s (when there was only 4 point-something billion people on the entire planet). But by 2030, there will be close to 9 billion people on the planet…yet only enough energy/food/resources to satisify the needs of 4 billion people.
The equation gets even more grim when you realize that it is not just “peak oil”. But literally “peak everything”. Everything from the precious metals, rare Earth metals, timber/wood, top soil, fresh water, etc are/have already reached/passed their peak of extraction…and they are also rapidly running out. And the permanent shortage of even one essential natural resouce could easily cause CoIC/NTHE to happen (due to Liebig’s Law).
I remember Richard Heinberg and Matt Savinar mention (nearly 20 years ago) that so-called “advancements” in computer technology is mostly for the sake of reducing the amount of raw materials used in the manufacturing of such devices. So the so-called “advancements” in computer technology in the past 30 years is just an illusion. It is really just new ingenious ways to reduce the amount of resources used in manufacturing, to cut production costs, to “compensate” for the rapidly-depleting finite and nonrenewable resources on this planet.
I own three laptops (that were manufactured over 10 years ago)….and they still had physical CD/DVD drives on the actual laptop hardware. Nowadays, laptops (almost) never come with a built-in CD/DVD drive…is that because of technological “progress”? I call bs on that. It is (most likely) due to manufacturers making electronic devices thinner and more compact, to cut manufacturing costs, since older hardware features (like CD/DVD drives) can no longer be manufactured (due to resource depletion).
Technological progress is a myth. In fact, the exact opposite is happening. Technology is not getting more sustainable or of higher-quality. It is becoming increasingly unsustainable, with watered-down and dumbed-down features…and old features are removed, since manufacturers can no longer manufacture older (and more robust technologies). Due to many reasons, but resource depletion being one of the primary reasons.

I am not sure if I have mentioned this before…but I heard (from some sources) that (at least) 30 million people (around the world) die from starvation (caused by poverty), each and every year. And this happens even in the “developed” world–like Canada and the USA–not just Third World countries (like China and India). Starvation (caused by poverty), btw, is the #1 leading cause of human deaths in the world. Yet (virtually), everyone finds this hard (if not impossible) to believe. Probably because it just sounds too unbelievably evil and unfair (accepting such a grim reality violates the “just world” cognitive bias of human beings).
This fact is well-hidden from the masses…but it isn’t that hard to believe, once you understand the economic reality of the world.
Simply put, if you lose your job (and thus lose your only source of income), you will quickly run out of money to afford living necessities (especially that of food). No money/lack of money= no food = you will quickly die from starvation. It is even worse than that…even if you don’t lose your job, it is very likely that you are earning too little income/money to afford paying for your bills/financial debt/rent/etc…and you will likely still die from starvation (caused by poverty), even if you work your ass-off, 24/7.
The exploitation of our economic system is hard to believe (or comprehend), because it is a clear violation of the “just world” cognitive bias of human beings. But it is, what it is. The world is an unjust and unfair place, simply put. For many reasons, but one of the main reasons is usury i.e. you are paid less money (in wages) than the amount of money you generate for the economy…in order for a profit/surplus value to be extracted from your labour and all other economic activities.
It is virtually impossible to “win” at capitalism, because people’s wages are (always) less than the full value of their labour/economic output. It basically boils down to an all-or-nothing game…you either become extremely wealthy (from extracting surplus value/profits) from other people’s labour…or you have to rely on pitful wages, eventually run out of money, and die from poverty.

The chances of World War 3 (WW3) erupting within the 2020s and 2030s is virtually inevitable. There is 6 more years left in the 2020s…yet WW3 could easily erupt within that timeframe. If not within this decade, certainly by the 2030s.
Why is this the case? The Earth is rapidly becoming unable to support the global human population for much longer. By the 2030s, there will be nearly 9 billion people on Earth, yet only enough food/ energy/ resources to support no more than 3 to 4 billion people (perhaps even less resources than that by then).
While human population growth is somewhat slowing down, it is still exponentially and uncontrollably growing. Yet, the ability to support this ever-growing population is rapidly declining (due to climate change/environmental degradation and peak oil/resource depletion). Every month (perhaps every week?) that passes, the ability to support the global human population is noticeably and rapidly declining.
And it is not only global famine that is worsening. Massive unemployment is also rapidly growing in every country of the world. Not only is the price of food uncontrollably growing (due to rapidly declining crop yields and global agriculture–in general–starting to epically fail), but unemployment is also rapidly growing. Thus, more and more people are literally incapable of earning ANY money (let alone enough money) to afford ANY food whatsoever (and other living necessities). And the few lucky/priveleged people, who still have a job/income, are quickly becoming too poor to afford the skyrocketing food prices. And they could easily lose their jobs and quickly become unable to afford any food whatsoever…due to global economic contraction caused by declining global oil extraction/resource depletion (in general).
The horsemen of the Apocalypse are arriving nearer every passing day. Near-term human extinction is becoming an ever-increasing possibility (perhaps even an inevitability at this point).

Well, overpopulation is only part of the problem. Overpopulation wouldn’t be an issue, if the global human population can sustain itself using resources that are renewable and extracted from where they are consumed. Without causing catastrophic ecological damage. Unfortunately, that is not the case.
Most of the vital resources that industrial civilization consumes are not only finite. But they are also, most importantly, nonrenewable. Everytime these resources are extracted and consumed, there is less and less of these resources available for future generations of humans. And also, these resources have to transported to far away places to be converted into products…these manufactured products also have to be transported to far away places to be marketed/sold.
Nevermind, the catastrophic ecological damage that industrial production causes. Literally every city in the world is dependent on global supply chains to provide their citizen with basic necessities, like like food and water…(nevermind luxury and superfluous consumer items–like computers and automobiles).
Needless to say, when the global supply chains inevitably collapse, NTHE will, most likely, happen.

Just FYI, people’s wages and incomes (around the entire world) peaked around 15 to 20 years ago (in 2000s). And this also happened to be when global oil extraction started to peak. Is this a coinceidence? Probably not, because there is no way to increase economic output without constantly increasing the rate of fossil fuel/resource extraction. And without increased economic output (especially per capita), wages/incomes cannot increase.
It is impossible to increase people’s wages/incomes anymore, especially since global oil extraction has not only peaked. But it is now in perpeutal decline. But prices start to skyrocket (especially the price of food).
The price of most products/services has significiantly increased during the past couple of years. I remember NordVPN (and other online subscription services) used to cost much less money than they do today. Back in 2017, NordVPN cost a mere $6.99 USD/month. Now, in 2023, it costs $14.99 USD/month. The same applies to Internet/electricity bills/water bills, etc. The price of (almost) everything is now skyrocketing.
Since literally everything in our civilization directly (or indirectly) depends on fossil fuels (especially that of petroleum), the declining availability of oil means the price of everything skyrockets….yet without any means to increase people’s wages/incomes. Yet, unemployment continues to grow, since declining oil extraction means economic output declines, too.
This means that fewer and fewer people will be able to afford an adequete supply of food and other consumer products (like computers and automobiles). This means social unrest/social strife is starting to increase (especially thief and robberies).

I just realized that the entire global capitalist system is based off of usury. Not just people burrowing money from banks via mortgages. But the whole wage labour/employee system is based off of usury. Let me explain.
Employees/wage labourers are literally burrowing money from their employers/ corporations that they work for. Their wages are literally just money they are burrowing from their employers. And employees’ labour is calculated to produce more revenue than the wages they are paid. And the revenue that employees generate is the amount of money they pay back to the businesses they work for. And the surplus value/profits that businesses generate (from wage labour) is just interest that they accumulate from requiring their employees to PAY BACK MORE money (via the output of their labour) than what they burrow (via wages). Capitalism is USURY. Simply put.

There might still be a few, uncontacted tribal people (in 2023) that still aren’t dependent on the global supply chains (at least, not yet). TR,
This is a twisted tail that I relate specifically for your enjoyment. There is no point to this taile other than to relate some twists and turns of fate, of late because I find the interplay of chance that occurs in this story rather poetic.
The story starts in July of 2023, exactly what day I can no longer remember. On this otherise unremartable day the electronically controlled front door handle on the drivers door of our car stopped working property. When the car sensed the car key near by the door handle would emerge. But when the handle was pulled on the door would not open. I have no idea how the system works but it did not effect the door handle on the inside of the door. Then about a week later the front door on the passenger side started having the same problem.
Well when the problem occured with the first door we called for a service appointment. We were given as estimate of about 80 Euros to repair the door. But they said that one of the parts needed was not in stock. So they would not give us a firm appointment until the part had arrived. They did not know when the part would arrive. But they knew that it would be at least weeks.
Well weeks rolled by and not much happened. Except after a couple weeks the door on the passenger side would work occassionly and then not work again. But by the first week of August it never worked again. When we wanted to get in to our car we either had to leave the front window rolled down, or get in from the back and reach over to the front and try to open the door with the handle or role the window down. We decided that it was easier to role the window down.
So before we knew it it was late August and our safety inspection sticker inspired at the end of August. We did some research and found out that this was not a big deal for the first 30 days. But in our case we were going to visit my parents the last two weeks of September. And then when we got back we wanted to immediately drive this car to go visit other relatives in Berlin. So our window of fixing this problem was diminishing quickly. Yes we could have driven our second car to Berlin but that would have cost us quite a bit more money. OK once your car is inspected you have 30 days to get the problem fixed without any extra hassle. But if you do not get the problem fixed in 30 days you have to do the entire inspection all over again which costs 160 or 180 Euros I think. Plus I think the mechanic said that the car will come under even closer srutiny.
None of that turned out to be important because on the 30th or 31st of August our driver side door started working properly again. So I sense a chance to get out of our problem, but not without risk. I talked with our local mechanic and he said that if the drivers door worked the inspector would be unlikely to check the other doors. So I made an appointment for the next day to have the inspection done. The car door still worked when I dropped it off for the inspection.
I got called by the mechanic late that morning. He told me that I could pick up the car it had passed the inspection. When I got there the door did not work. The mechanic said, as soon as the German State Inspector left the door stopped working again. But we had our new required safety inspection sticker.
Therefore even though the 2 front doors did not work properly we drove that car to Berlin. We arrived at 1 am on October 3rd. At 10 am I went out to the car to retrive a small bag that we had left in the car. I found the inside of the car in total disarray and the bag was not in the car. I knew that the car had been broken in to. But for the moment I did not know how. I went up to report the theft and the police were called. When I returned to the car I found that the small back window behind the big passenger window on the drivers side had been shattered. Somekind of tool which caused some minor damage to the back door had been used to open the back drivers side door.
I have read that this is a preford method of entery for thieves who want to steal your car, not just items inside the car. The car was not parked far away and we did not hear the alarm go off during the night. It is possible that we were just to sound asleep.
But it could also be an indication that the theives had been able to hack in to the cars security system. Yet for some reason the theives did not take the car. I surmise that we had good luck wrapped around our band luck.
Because the two front doors did not work properly it seems to me that the thieves did not take it because they did not want to deal with a car in need of such repairs. Or, they thought that the car had some kind of extra security on it that they were not familure with. Therefore they just decided to take somethings from the car, like my maroon Minnesota Gophers nylon wind breaker, extra prescription glasses, and out remote garage door opener, a deck of playing cards with picturres of the Alamo on it, and even an open box of toothpicks, to cover the effort that they had gone through.
We knew that Berlin was the car theft capitol of Europe, if not Germany, but yet we still chose to drive an expensive car there. (To save money) The maine lesson that we learned is next time we will use a Toyota Yaris that belongs to our (1) adult child to drive to Berlin. After all random cool stuff can happen anywhere.

In the mean time the esstimated cost of fixing the problem had gone from 160 eurors to 650 Euros. Then when the repair man was actually done with the work the bill was 795 Euros or there about. What amazes me is that even the elites and so-called “intellectual” class (like Jordan Peterson and Stephen Pinker) don’t seem to understand that infinite growth on a finite planet is impossible. It is obvious that capitalism will abruptly and catastrophically collapse without infinite growth. And that collapse is probably very, very near. The global economy is already unable to grow anymore, since global oil extraction has already started to permanently decline. And during every passing month/year, net energy continues to rapidly fall. As a result, commodity prices (especially food prices) continue to skyrocket. Yet without any means to increase the incomes/wages of people. And therefore, unemployment/ poverty/ starvation continues to exponentially rise. The elites and so-called “intellectuals” are all fucking charlatans/morons, because they are pretending (or are unaware) of the inevitability of near-term human extinction.

As for how capitalism/the profit motive works, it is actually fairly simple. It is all based off of lending money out AT INTEREST. Not just for banks lending out mortgages, student loans and other financial products with interest attached. But the whole corporate-industrial wage-labour system is also based off of usury.
Usury means that the burrower of money has to pay back more money than what they burrowed. Employees have to pay back more money than what they burrowed from the businesses they work for. The revenues that employees generate is the money that they pay back to their employers. And the wages employees earn is the money that employees burrow from their employers. And the profits that the employers receive is the interest that is extracted from surplus value.
Yet, I hear (almost) nobody mention how capitalism is simply institutionalized usury. Not even the people, who explain how the profit motive works (based off of surplus value), ever dare mention how capitalism = usury. Probably because mentioning this reality somehow makes you an “anti-Semite”.
But the truth is explaining how capitalism = usury is not anti-Semitism. There are plenty of poor Jews. And there are plenty of extremely wealthy non-Jewish people.

I was talking to someone a few weeks ago. And that person is a clueless fool, who thinks that “there are many jobs. And too few workers available to work at those jobs”. Of course, this fool also denies the reality of the human overpopulation problem. He thinks that there are “too many” jobs available because a handful of employers are having a “hard time” finding employees for a particular job. What he doesn’t realize is that the number of available jobs is ALWAYS FAR LESS than the number of people in need of a job/source of income. There is always a lack of jobs/employment opportunities, due to many different reasons. But one of those reasons is because of overpopulation.
He completely ignores (or is unaware) of the fact that there is like 50 to 100 people looking for a job for every job available. This fool thinks that there is “too many jobs” available because he is one of the few priveleged people to be employeed right now. Forgetting, of course, there is too few jobs/income sources available, and too many people seeking a job/lacking in any income.
Not surprisingly, he is one of the sheeple that gets his news from MSM.

And btw, the elites are doing everything within their power to cut off any sort of social safety net whatsoever. They are not offering anymore “free” stuff anymore. There is literally no more free hand-outs to the poor, either in form of welfare or soup kitchens anymore. Now, you must pay for everything these days. And the elites are making it impossible for the masses to survive, without submitting themselves to wageslavery anymore. Yet, the number of jobs available for the masses continues to shrink…yet the number of people in need of a job/income continues to exponentially grow. Therefore, fewer and fewer people can have the privelege of being a wageslave anymore. Because the number of jobs available is rapidly decreasing (due to many factors, but resource depletion being one of the main factors). Yet the number of people in need of a job/income is still rapidly growing (due to overpopulation/population growth).
Don’t worry…when collapse of industrial civilization inevitably happens (in the near future), the elites will certainly not survive. There will be no new civilization emerging from the ashes of industrial capitalism, because near-term human extinction will literally happen.

I find it delusional that some people think that humanity will revert back to feudalism after capitalist industrial civilization collapses. This belief is almost as delusional as believing in the myth of technological progress…almost as silly as believing that technology will solve all the world’s problems, free energy will replace fossil fuels, humanity will be colonizing Mars by the 22nd century, etc. Why is that? Because humanity is almost certainly going to be completely extinct before the 21st century is over.
Near term human extinction is almost certain to happen between 2030 to 2080; even if NTHE does not happen, collapse of industrial civilization is guranateed to kill off at least 99.99% of the human population within the next couple of decades. Humanity would be exceptionally “lucky” if our population is reduced down to a few 100s or a few 1,000s people around the entire world, after collapse of industrial civilization happens.
Although I think it is much more likely that Homo Sapiens completely goes extinct between 2030 and 2080 in a single, epic die off of the global human population. Keep in mind that Homo Sapien’s presence on this planet is fundamentally unsustainable. Humans are fundamentally incapable of living in ecological harmony on this planet. Reverting back to feudalism will not solve the ecological crisis of this planet. NTHE will solve it for good. Thinking that humans will have a second-chance at wrecking an already-dead biosphere, after fossil fuels become completely exhausted (using more primitive technologies, pre-industrial tech) is very naive at best.
I think that the following quote (from the link below) sums up what will happen to humanity after industrial civilization collapses…
https://web.archive.org/web/20220524111716/https://dieoff.com/page137.htm
“”Or it may prove impossible for even a few survivors to subsist on the meager resources left in civilization’s wake. The children of the highly technological society into which more and more of the world’s peoples are being drawn will not know how to support themselves by hunting and gathering or by simple agriculture. In addition, the wealth of wild animals that once sustained hunting societies will be gone, and topsoil that has been spoiled by tractors will yield poorly to the hoe. A species that has come to depend on complex technologies to mediate its relationship with the environment may not long survive their loss.”””
Just my two cents.

I know that the Bible specifically states how usury is sinful and immoral. Not just the Bible, but every other major religion (i.e. Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism) condemns usury aka lending out money out at interest. Yet, capitalism is essentially just institutionalized usury. Meaning capitalism is sinful and immoral, in its essence. Yet, I hear (almost) nobody condemning capitalism/usury anymore (the two are inseperable BTW….capitalism = usury). People either deny that capitalism = usury. Or people pretend that usury isn’t sinful and immoral…some lunatics (i.e. laissez-faire capitalists/economists), in fact, claim that usury is a “good” thing.
How humanity has become corrupted over the centuries because of human civilization, indeed! How greatly has humanity fallen from God/Mother Nature’s grace, indeed! This species is finished. Whether or not you believe in God, it is obvious that humans are now irredemably corrupted and unsustainable. And the extinction of Homo Sapiens is right on the horizon.

Random Cool Stuff,
The Curt ian is falling, but has not fallen yet. Not much to do but wait and watch it happen. Relish the details. Today I will relate a detail that is a story of astonishing randomness.
The story begins when I remembered something that had been forgotten by others. That in and of itself is a pretty extraordinary event. I remembered that Aldi was having a sale on Lemons and we needed to buy some. I called home and was told that i need to buy 10 small bags of lemons. So, I walked in to the store thinking that i was going to carry out the 10 bags of lemons without a chopping cart. That would have been a bit difficult, but possible. But then I remembered that we needed paper towels and Cardemon as well. I realized that I needed a shopping cart. But when i turned to go out of the store I saw that to be able to get out I had to go around through the store and out one of the narrow check out lines saying excuse me to 6 or 7 people before I could go out the exit rather than go out the enterance. I was a bit miffed But I turned back to head out that way and around the other corner of fresh fruit and vegitible section was an empty and unattened shopping cart. There was no one else at all in the fresh fruit and veggy section at all at that moment. I did not know where the person was who had brought this cart in to the store so I made a quick decision to take the cart put the lemons in it and take off. Then if anyone asked me about my shopping cart I would insist that I had brought it in with me.
Finding this shopping cart already in the store exactly when I needed it was an asstonishing case of good luck. First of all I calculate that the probability of an empty unattended shopping cart being in the store at the same time that I was in the store at being roughly 1 in 3,000. I arrived at that figure based upon the number of times that I have been in a grocery store divided by the number of times I have seen an empty unattended shopping cart. But every other time that I have seen an empty unattended shopping cart, which have not been many, I did not need a shoping cart myself. So that 3,000 needs to be multiplied by the number of times one sees an empty unattended shopping cart by the times that one actually needs to use that cart. I do not know what that number would be because I lack enough data to say anything other than the number would be greater than 2. But it is likely to be at least 6.
Then there is the luck that I had that the entire section of the store was empty so that I could take shopping cart, leaving no living witnesses behind. I do have some data on that and I would say being alone in the fresh fruit and veggy section of an Aldi occurs at most 4% of the time that I visit and Aldi store.
Totally up all of this luck I would say that there was only about a 1 in a 100,000 chance that I would be so lucky. Alright Alright my luck did not bring me a huge profit. But I was still thankful for the chance to recognize all of the factors that went in to making it possible.
ps. I am not getting updates sent to my email when comments are posted even though I requested that.

Expecting usury/the profit motive/capitalism to save human society and the natural world is a tad naive, don’t you agree? Especially when it was/is capitalism that got us into this mess in the first place. I obviously don’t think that capitalism will save the world, because capitalism is what is destroying the world in the first place. The profit motive can never save the world, can never bring sustainability/peace/justice/etc because to make profit requires destroying the world in the first place. There is no such thing as “green capitalism” because exponentially increasing production and consumption on a finite planet is fundamentally unsustainable.
I think that the day of reckoning aka NTHE is rapidly approaching. There is literally nothing coming to save humanity from near term extinction at this point. I think that capitalism will persist until NTHE finally arrives. In fact, capitalism is doubling down, as NTHE comes nearer, because food prices are now skyrocketing…and that catastrophic global famine (which has already begun and is getting worse every passing week/month) is just another profit-making opportunity…even though it will probably be the last desperate attempt to make profit before there are literally no more humans left on this planet.

I hear some stupid conspiracy theorists speculate about how the elites are trying to reduce world population, by reducing birth rates, by promoting sexual liberation, feminism, pornography, etc. What a load of horse shit. The global human population is still growing by 200,000+ people each and everyday (births minus deaths). The global human population is still exponentially and uncontrollably growing. If the so-called Sexual Revolution is about “depopulating” the world, then how come the global human population has grown many, many times since the 1960s? Really, does anyone actually think that the human species will go extinct from the lack of reproduction? Maybe the extinction of the human species might have something to do with over-reproduction/overpopulation? Just saying.

During the past 20 to 30 years, the only real “improvement” in technology was that computers have been made slightly faster and (most importantly), more compact/portable. Back in the 1990s, we still used CRT computer monitors and television sets. And laptops just started being manufactured. Now, from the 2010s (and onwards), we have thin-screen computer monitors and televisions. And of course, smartphones and other portable digital devices are now ubiquitious.
But has this relatively minor “improvement” in technology solved any of the world’s fundamental problems? Such as overpopulation, resource depletion, famine, poverty/economic inequality, environmental degradation, etc? Absolutely not!
In fact, the world’s fundamental problems are getting worse and worse, every passing week/month. And some relatively minor “improvements” in consumer-product technology (like the introduction of smartphones and tablet PCs) have done absolutely nothing to even mitigate those fatal problems…let alone solve them.
Worse still, the illusion of technological “progress” can no longer be maintained, because it is no longer possible to invent anymore new, novel technologies. I would assume that smartphones are the last and final technological gimmick humans invent, before our extinction finally arrives.
But wait! During the past 5 or so years, AI-generated artwork is increasing in popularity on the Internet! And that will be our “salvation”! Ok, all jokes aside, AI generated-artwork is just a last, desperate attempt to maintain the illusion of technological progress. And it is a very, very pathetic attempt to fool and distract the masses, because it is obvious that AI technology will do jack shit to save humanity from near term extinction…since industrial civilization is nothing but a fleeting and temporary illusion created by finite and nonrenewable fossil fuel energy. And that fossil fuel energy is rapidly running out, meaning that this industrial civilization will soon come to a catastrophic and abrupt end…with near term human extinction shortly following the collapse of industrial civilization.

The bottom line is very simple…near term human extinction is guranateed to happen from overpopulation, resource depletion and ecological collapse alone. Climate change is relatively “minor” when compared to those three factors. When the global supply chains collapse in the near future (from peak oil and resource depletion in general), NTHE is (almost) guranateed to happen…especially when you consider that the 8,000,000,000+ people on Earth will quickly perish when there is no more food at the grocery stores, no more gas at the gas stations, no more electricity, no more water coming out of the municipal taps, etc. Does anyone honestly think that 8 billion + people can sustain themselves on some wild plants and wild animals when the collapse of industrial civilization happens? It has been raining a lot here lately. But today the weather was super nice.
The Berkel Spring is flowing good. It should be abel to meet your expanded supply requirements.
Today a discussion occured about some past events. We were talking about things that got screwed up in the mail. There was some initial disagreement about what happened and when. But then we got our story straight. The story that we told was that back before 2010 we recieved a package in the mail. The package was sent from Tampa Bay Florida. It was sent to us even though we did not order it. Once we opened the package we found a clear plastic bag with white powder. A label on the bag said that it was egg whites. We did not test this powder to see if it was actually anthrax spores, or heroin, or coke. It got thrown straight in the garbage.
Ok what those who heard the story did not know because they were not native english speakers is that there is a phrase in english, to have egg on one`s face. the phrase may also be to have egg on your face. It means to look foolish or to be embarrased.
Well at that time, when we recieved this package, the internet was a much different place. I had spent a lot of time writing on pro US military websites, that allowed comments, being a devils advocate, I was calling in to question the institutional narrative the was being put forth at that time. I did not tell that to those in the room. The moral of the story was to those in the room that people who work in warehouses screw up.
But to me the moral was completely different. I can not be sure myself what the moral was supposed to be for someone to send this egg white to us. But my best guess is one of two possibilities. Either, I was looking like a fool. Or, I was making powerful people look like fools because I was calling in to question the “institutional narrative” about what was going on in Iraq and Afghanistan.
But what is actually more crucial about this story is that this was the vey first step taken by the US military to convince the Russians that there actually was a revolt growing inside the US military against the US military leadership. Of course the Russians heard about this event because they heard about it from me.
Over the years the Russians were totally taken in by this American ruse because the Russians wanted it to be true. But sadly there was never any type of organized revolt inside of the US military against the leadership of the military.
Yet the belief that there was no doubt played a role in the decision of the Russians to try to liberate the Ukraine from indirect US occupation. Well, even if the Russians had not be duped they might have reached the decision to try to liberate the Ukraine in any case. Because the Russians are not fools even though they can be fooled. Not to see that the unneccessary continuation of the NATO military alliance was directed against Russia would have shown that they are fools.
So anyways, here I sit reminiscing about days gone by after planting a variety of trees that will never become coo coo clocks. Or build a bridge over the Dnieper River.
But they will absorb a few Grahams of hot air.

I almost never see MSM tell the masses the truth. It is either a “half truth” (more like a “half lie”, am I correct?). Or it is often just a bold face lie. And our entire society literally believes in these lies. And behaves as though these lies are actually “true”.
The truth (and truth tellers) are called “conspiracy theories” or “conspiracy theorists”. There is a small chance that a tiny percentage of people survive the collapse of industrial civilization, although that is unlikely. Even if a tiny percentage of people manage to survive, none of the cultural artificats of this current civilization (i.e. religion, capitalism, science) will survive beyond the collapse of industrial civilization. If there are any human survivors, they will have to start from scratch…and they won’t have much natural resources (or knowledge) to start from, to begin with. Especially since virtually all of the most important documents and knowledge of human civilization is now stored digitally in cyberspace/the Internet. In Central Minnesota there is a Monistary. And in this Monestary there is a bunker. The bunker is 90 feet underground. It has a 6 foot thick reinforced conrete roof. The bunker is guarded night and day by 4 fire breathing dragons that take turns guarding the bunker.
And in this bunker there are millions and millions of micro films. Of course they also have some magnifiying glasses in the bunker.
Another thing that is important to know about the bunker is the number of microfilms gets added to daily. 3 Member Teams of (eunich) Monks one Benidictine, one Shao Lin, and one Sufi are deployed on all of the contintents around the world to gather all of the important things that people should know and they take micro film pictures of what they discover.
These Micro films are then sent to a university facility in Duluth Mn appropriately named St. Scholasitca. There the films are evaluated and the most important ones are sent through an underground vacumn tube to the storage facility in Central Minnesota.
Well no one ever toldt me this, but based upon the membership of the 3 member teams I suspect that all of the micro films are done in triplicate with one going not only to the US but one going to China and one going to Iran.
You may suspect that I am bullshiting. But I kid you not. First of all you can do a google search of St. John’s Abbey in Central Minnesota and you will discover that the place that I talk about is real. I have been inside of it.
Second of all you may find it hard to swallow that these three religous groups would conduct a joint opperation. But that is because that you do not know that all three of these groups have some things in common, like respect for Saints who can act as an intermediary between humans and God. And all three of the religous groups are independent of their national governments. Yes of course Islam is that national religion of Iran but their leaders are not at all fond of Sufis.
Now telling you this story should not imply that I myself am a theist. I am as are many Buddhists strictly speaking an Atheist. And having been raised as a Catholic I can tell you that Catholics are a very diverse group of people. Many people who are part of the Catholic institutions are only pretending to be Catholic in order to make use of the extensive economic power of the Catholic Church.
So the bottom line is that these micro films might be loaded with lies and propoganda. But just like the internet they might be a combination of lies and truth and it will be up to the reader to decide which is witch.

The first covert social action taken by the PTB to derail the train of reasonable human political behavior happened in 1973 or 1974 with the change in popular music being played over the radio. Prior to that time the lyrics of songs were sometimes revolutionary and more often than not had soically meaningful lyrics. But after that music was most often just hedonisitic garbage. Especially in the 1980s, the worst decade of all for popular music.
I do not want to give the impression that I think that political behavior was reasonable in the US before the 1970s. But from 1932 until 1972 things were moving in the right direction dispite powerful opposition from entrenched interests.
That train of reasonable politcal behavior used to go from New Orleans to Memphis to St. Louis to Chicago and then on to Detroit. But back somewhere around 73 or 74 the train went off a bridge in to the Mississippi and no one even bothered to look for it let alone do an accident investigation to see how it happened.
The accident may be connected to the closure of Hamm’s brewery as well.
If the Brewery had not closed you might not be so sullen.
Yes I see the connection now. The crushing of the real music of America and replacing it with confederate confectionary music was closely followed by union busting. First goes Hamm’s then goes the Ford Factory not so far away. Before you know the window of opportunity is closed and there are no more winds of change. And no one remembers Eugen anymore.

But I know a more likely answer. There is a US military instillation in Pirmasens Germany which is near the French border. Officially the installation is a warehouse for medical supplies. But there is a secret facility on the installation that does animal experiments. About 20 or 25 years ago some hybrid animals escaped from the facility. I know because I was working at the installation on the night that the escape happened. That of course lead to a a breach in the secrecy of the facility.
It would not surprise me at all if the Aardvarks in the Alsace have something to do with the research that goes on in Pirmasens. They hybrid animals that escaped 20 or 25 years ago have a motive to thry to disrupt the activities of the US military especially in Europe.
That the Aardvarks can survive in Al sace is a testiment to the nature of climate change

RE: Investments
I do not think that it is a good idea to invest in an Arema Vootball team with the name of the Boston Stranglers. That is a Faux Paus. The name is more politically incorrect than the the Washington Redskins. It also not accurate. A more accurate name would be the Boston Baby Bomber Enablers. Ok it is true that the name Baby Bomber Enabler would fit Washington DC or Philadelphia or New York, or Atlanta, or Dallas or Las Vegas just as well. But those US cities do not begin with a B. And then there is the problem of fitting the appropriate accurate team name on to the Jersey.
It might seem unfair to connect this name with the city of Boston. And it is. But fairness has long since been buried in the rubble of a planet in which the world is falling down around us. So apparently someone, maybe we do not know who exactly, but we do know where they work, decided to literally bring the world down upon the bodies upon some poor people in the desert.
On top of that the Baby Bomber Enablers imply that those who are getting crushed by the weight of the world comming down upon them had it comming to them because they gave those who pushed them on to the small reservation that they inhibit a small taste of the medicine that these poor people have been forced to endure of decades.
Yes some people deem it neccessary to really create a deadly circus to distract from the crushing famines that will occur to everyone in the not to distant future.

Btw, the vast majority of people I know are burdened by enormous financial debts. Whether it is student loan debt, automobile loan debt, mortgage(s), credit card debt, etc, I say about 80 to 90% of people own enormous financial debts…I am lucky enough to be the small percentage of people who isn’t in financial debt. This gives me the privelege to enjoy life, while having some spare time for leisure activities (rather than working every waking moment of my life to pay off financial debts). Having a financial debt obviously causes enormous stress…and thus it makes it impossible to truly enjoy life…because you have to work 24/7 (in a futile attempt) to pay off those debts.

I had a poem translated to me yesterday. When a poem is translated from one language to another almost all trace of its artistic value is lost. But I thnk the thought provoking value of this poem remains.
When I was born nothing was added to the universe or taken away. No one told me about eternity. No one told me what I was doing here. When I died nothing was added to the universe or taken away. No one told me that my decaying body would fertalize the grass and flowers above my body providing enjoyment for those passyng by.
I myte wryte more about this poem latter.
On other news a UN official of I assume US nationality resigned today or yesterday. He said one thing that I found interesting. I have maintained that international law (and the US Constitutiion) was assassinated and butchered in March of 2003 when the US invaded Iraq and justified this invasion with lies.
But this UN official said that the death of International law acctually occured with the so called Oslo Peace Accords. That makes sense to me.
I was actually a supporter of Israel until Israel went American by the way they totally ignored that agreement before the ink was even dry on it. That was a clear sign that niether the USA nor Israel were interested in peace in the Middle East. The US government has proven beyond any shadow of a doubt that it is not interested in peace anywhere in the world.
It it true that not all Americans support their governments policies. But because to many Americans do support the policies of the government and that number increases the further one goes up the latter of wealth and power (influence) those who are opposed to the governments policies have no chance to change things.
In the military you are taught when your positions are overrun you call artillery down upon your own postiions to destroy the enemy along with yourself. It is for this reason that I call upon Russia and China to nuke the North America and Canada, and for Pakistan to nuke Israel. The Russians and Chinese and Palestinians, and Iranians, and Cubans are not my enemy, my own government is.
Yes some innocent people in America and Europe will be killed in a horrible manner, which they do not deserve. But what is good for the Palestinians, and the Afgahns, and the Iraqis, and the Vietnamese and on and on is good for the Americans and Europeans as well. Nuking North America and Western Europe, and Japan and Austalia as well, I should not leave those out, will bring an end to the atrocities once and for all.
And it is not as if the people in those countries have a bright future to look forward to anyways.

You are making it sound like NTHE is a crackpot idea by categorizing it with “climate change deniers”. Climate change denial is absurd. But NTHE is not absurd.
The evidence for NTHE is more than abundant. Of course, the exact date when NTHE will happen is still unknown. But the evidence for NTHE is not just abundant. It is simply overwhelming.
And it will (most likely) also be a sudden and catastrophic collapse, in which 8 to 9 billion+ people around the world suddenly vanish. Without any humans left alive afterwards.

I have read many blogs from various social critics online. And these people make very valid points about socio-economic inequality, rent-seeking, usury, capitalism, and whatnot.
But they never mention two critical points. Which is, of course, OVERPOPULATION and RESOURCE DEPLETION. And these people barely mention about the catastrophic ecological damage caused by industrial civilization.
Unless you mention the overpopulation, resource depletion and ecological destruction aspects, any social commentary/social criticism is ultimately pointless. Yes, it is very important to talk about poverty, wealth inequality and debt slavery. But (conveniently) forgetting to mention the overpopulation and ecological unsustainability aspects is (in a great sense) IMO misdirecting people’s attention away from the BIGGER PICTURE.
Which is the innate ecological unsustainability of Homo Sapiens. And where humanity is headed in the relatively near future (which is collapse of industrial civilization and human extinction)…as a result of humanity’s innate rapacious nature.

Not that I really care…because I know that nobody…let me repeat, with 100% certainty, literally NOBODY will survive when NTHE happens. Fuck the rich, elites. Because what good will their billions and trillions of dollars of “net worth” (aka fictional, fiat money) do for them when there is literally no more food at the grocery stores, no more gas at the gas stations, no more electricity, no more water flowing out of the municipal pipes; in other words, when the global supply chains completely and permanently stop (in the relatively near future)?
The world runs on oil. Not money. And the oil supply is quickly running out. Meaning the extinction of mankind is quickly arriving.
When there is not enough (fossil fuel) energy left to power industrial civilization anymore, human civilization will catastrophically and abruptly collapse. Meaning the global supply chains permanently and suddenly stop. And then, literally everyone on this planet will very quickly die. And then, there won’t be anyone left on this planet anymore aka NEAR TERM HUMAN EXTINCTION WILL HAPPEN. And that day is arriving closer every passing day.

There is an event going on at the Sheraton Hotel Bahrain tonight in which new roofing methods will be discussed. Ask for the Blitzer event. He will be there.
I hope that you can find a solution to your problem that you find acceptable.
My main problem, which also happens to be my main opportunity, is that I do care about scummy people running the world even if they are going to die soon. Because soon is not sooner enough for me. I take it as a personal insult that I even have to breath air on the same planet as those leaders do. These people should not even be allowed to smell postions of power let alone occupy them. That they have power even for one second I take as a personal insult. The result is that i have a reason to live other than to complain about over population, or to persue some shallow hedonistic goal.
The Buddhist sages tell me not to take it personally because it is all an illusion. Fine, I can accept that it is an illusion. But I do not know exactly what kind of an illusion that it is. Therefore when an opportunity presents itself in which I can do something that meets a reasonable cost benifit risk ratio I have a motive to do something rather than to do nothing, knowing full well that it the end it will not make a difference because in the end nothing will be left. But taking action could make a difference in the path one (or that many) takes to arrive at nothingness.
There is a stupid saying that the toad of hell is colored with good intentions. OK but bad intentions are a four lane cement freeway to hell, not mearly a toad which would never really get to hell in the first place because it would get run over long before it made it.
Anyways pay close attention: taking actions “could” make a positve difference in the short term. But there are no guarantees. That has to be considered in the cost risk benifits ratio palutations.

RE: Splenda
As a consumer of fine products I consider Spleda a splendid buy. Taht is no doubt why it is called Splenda by its inventors and or investors.
What has splenda done for me. Well I would not have know about it for sure. But yesterday and today I was forced to undergo an examination.
The russelts were that my resting pulse yesterday morning after I had had my coffee was 60. My blood pressure was 137 over 85. This was between one and two hours after I had my coffee. After the test I looked up the possibilty that the coffee had had had and impact.
So I did the test again today -before- my coffee. The results were a pulse of 55 and a blood preasure of 115 over 82. I can not prove it but I think that these good results, for my advanced age in any case, are due to the fact that I use splenda in my tea, coffee and oldmeal, so that I can save the real sugar for my donuts, lebkucken, cinnammon roles, snickers bars, chocolate candy, cake, cookies and ice cream and real high furchtose syrup on my pancakes and french toast.
Therefore I would reccommend investing in the company that produces Splenda. I am not sure how sustainable its production is but I do know that once it is produced it has a very long shelf life because it is so chemically stable. The cool random thing about the product is that once there is not enough food to eat no one will want to bother to steal it from you unless they are diabetic and I doubt if there will be many diabetics around once supply chains break. So you may loose your shirt and your sugar when that happens but you will still have your splenda to consul you.

My grades were rather low in all Mathematical subjects. I will bow out of any discussion on the subject. But does it really make any difference. There is no realistic reason for hope. Especially for the Readers of this site and Climate And Economics, and Ian Welsh.
None of the readers of these sites are warlords. (Though I could have been the best war lord of them all had I come from a different socio economic background.) None of them are liked by a lot of people. None of them are part of a Monestary or Cloister. Though I am voluntariily in a semi cloistered condition. None of them are skilled con artists. Though some are under rated artisits. The con artist sub set includes Priests, Ministers, Rabbis, and Mullahs, and many Buddhist and Hindu leaders.
I believe that there are no con artisits among the readership of the 3 sites listed above.
The combined readership of these no doubt contains people with some practicle skills, and some might have some practical tools. But that will not protect them from the warlords for ever. More importantly the earths energy imbalance has targeted everyone including the war lords for assassination. They can run but they can not hide in the long term.
But that is not a good enough ending for me. I want the war lords to be the first to suffer not the last to suffer. Zhere is no greater cause to work for than making the war lords suffer sooner than they otherwise wood.
The amount that readers of the 3 sites mentioned can due in that regard is no doubt quite limited. That is why we should keep our eyz open for the time that we find ourselvez accidently in a surprizing situation. It could be a situation that has been manipulated by others to make progress towards making the warlords suffer zooner than they otherwise would.

The moral of the story is rather simple. It is that technology cannot fix any of the world’s fundamental problems. Like overpopulation, resource depletion, social/economic inequality or environmental degradation. Technology has created the illusion of “progress”. Yeah, we “progressed” from making weapons with stone spear points, to metal spear/swords points, and now we are making rapid-firing assault rifles. But what good will that technological “progress” do for us when our entire civilization is founded upon nothing but a pile of lies and delusions? And the day of reckoning aka NTHE is literally just a few years away from now?

Another sign of industrial civilization’s and humanity’s impending and imminent demise? The fact that there is fewer and fewer new, novel and groundbreaking technologies being invented in the 21st century compared to prior decades/centuries. In fact, the only major technological “innovation” in the 21st century is that computers and other digital devices have been made more compact with other minor improvements i.e. 20 to 30 years ago, we used CRT computer monitors and television sets. Now, we have thin screen, LCD computer monitors/television sets. But this is really just a miniscule “improvement” in technology. Not any groundbreaking, new innovation. The following quote summarizes what I am saying…
“”Ken Barrows on March 20, 2018 at 11:33 am
Good essay of course. But, contrary to received wisdom, we don’t live in an age of unprecedented technological advancement. That was decades ago. Now, it is pulling demand forward through debt and using gobs of energy for a few new gadgets. Even if one assumes the planet is not being destroyed, it is eating its seed corn.”””

Really, there is literally no way of saving us (at this point) from near term extinction. Telling fewer people to drive an automobile doesn’t make an iota of difference, since the entire edifice of human, industrial civilization is completely dependent on fossil fuels.
Literally, every aspect of industrial civilization is directly (or indirectly) dependent on fossil fuels. And that also includes the manufacturing and distribution of non-fossil fuel energy resources i.e. wind turbines, solar panels, biomass/biofuels, nuclear reactor fuels, etc. During the past 150 to 200 years, we have made ourselves increasingly dependent on fossil fuels. Even 30 to 40 years ago, the entire world was already extremely dependent on fossil fuels. And now, in the 21st century, we are even more dependent on fossil fuels than during the late 20th century.
The more industrialization/automation = the more dependence on fossil fuels. It is really that simple. Since the entire world is now dependent on just-in-time global supply chains (for literally everything), we are now 100%, totally dependent on fossil fuels. Yet, global oil extraction already reached its all-time peak in the 2010s. And in the 2020s, we have already entered the permanent decline of global oil extraction. And most importantly, with literally nothing that can replace petroleum. Ever coming.
Not to mention, the complete and utter destruction of the global ecosystems…which is already irreversible at this point. It is tad naive to think we can “save” the biosphere at this point. It is already GAME OVER for the planetary biosphere at this point. No amount of futile conservation efforts can save the planetary biosphere at this point. And once human civilization catastrophically and abruptly collapses (in the relatively near future), humanity will have no alternative means of survival outside the confines of industrial civilization…100% destroyed biosphere + sudden and catastrophic collapse of industrial civilization = 8,000,000,000+ people around in the world being reduced down to zero people, very suddenly. Meaning NTHE.

As for global oil reserve estimates, I don’t believe that TPTB will ever tell us how much oil is actually left…because the actual amount left is (most likely) much, much less than what the “official” oil reserve estimates state. Why would the elites ever want to admit that the civilization they control is nearing its end? They won’t. Which is why they invested so much effort in pretending that peak oil (and resource depletion in general) isn’t real.
Of course, I don’t know the exact amount of fossil fuels (and other nonrenewable resources) are left in the ground. Although by all reasonable estimates, it is very quickly running out. Which is what TPTB don’t want you to think about/know about. According to TPTB, the resources on this planet will never run out. Which is, of course, a big fat lie.
Assuming that there was 2 trillion barrels of oil in the ground (at the start of the oil age in 1850), by 2005/2006, about half of that 2 trillion barrels (aka 1 trillion barrels) was left in the ground. 1 trillion barrels = 1,000 billion barrels. And each and every year (during the 21st century), about 30 billion barrels of oil are extracted/consumed around the entire world. About 18 years has passed (since the half way point), so 18 years (times) 30 billion barrels/year = 540 billion barrels of oil have been consumed since 2005/2006. Subtract 540 billion from 1,000 billion, and we have around 450 billion barrels of oil left in 2023.
If we continue the 30 billion barrels per year consumption of oil, we have maybe 15 to 20 years (at best) of oil left. Of course, the real problem is not completely running out of oil. The main problem is that once most of the resources are depleted (in this case, over 3/4 of all the oil to ever be extracted, has already been extracted by 2023) , the rate of resource extraction starts its perpeutal decline. If it is true that global oil extraction hit its all time peak in 2018 (which is most likely true), then in 2023, we have already entered the permanent decline of global oil extraction. This might be the secret behind the skyrocketing rates of inflation, especially the skyrocketing prices of food. Since every aspect of industrial civilization is directly (or indirectly) dependent on petroleum, declining global oil extraction inevitably leads to skyrocketing prices (especially that of food prices).
I don’t know the exact date when NTHE will arrive. But I doubt that human civilization will persist beyond the 2040s (due to resource depletion and many other factors). The extinction of the human species will (almost certainly) occur between 2030 to 2080, which is basically near term human extinction…given that time frame. There is a tiny chance that a tiny fraction of the global human population (I reckon less than 0.01% of humanity) will pass through a population bottleneck. But I doubt it. Even if complete human extinction does not occur between that time frame, the collapse of industrial civilization/a mass human population die off is 100% guranateed within the next 20 to 30 years.
This also might explain why trickle down economics will certainly (and is already) failing. Because the elites are making sure that there is very little (if anymore) wealth trickling down from the top 1% to the bottom 99%. Because the elites certainly know that it is GAME OVER for industrial civilization. So they will increase the ever-widening wealth disparity. To systematically destroy the demand for fossil fuels, food and other natural resources…to delay the inevitable date when complete societal collapse/human extinction occurs. The so-called invisible hand of the “free market” is now systematically DESTROYING RESOURCE DEMAND, to delay NTHE for a few extra years. To allow the elites to stay in control for a few extra years.

When I traveled to Minnesota recently I had hopped to show off the state’s beautiful bird population to those that I was traveling with. But I was sorely disappointed. The number of visable birds was shocking low. Yes many birds have the sense to go south for the winter. But winter was not all that close yet and the weather had been warmer than usual up to that point.
While doing a boat cruise of Lake Minnetonka, which you can look up on google maps, we did see a few loons, and a few gulls, and we saw one old Thunderbird standing on the main street of Excelsior.
I also met a mate from the Czech Republic on the boat. We could call him a Czech mate for that matter. He was traveling back to Prague in a few days. But I doubt if his arrival would make any difference in the outcome of the elections, let alone the battle for the European heartland.
I do wonder though if the perception that most Germans actually favored a Ukrianian victory to prevent the Russians from liberating the Ukraine is actually an illusion carefully krafted by the NATO military political spectrum to prevent an uprising in western europe against the American occupations of the sacred lards of western europe. In March of 2022 there were many houses with Ukrainian flags or peace flags hanging from a window. I would guess about 2 or 3 percent of all houses. There were no Russian flags or Z victory flags hanging from any window.
But the German government made in crystal clear that they would not tolerate any back talk to the narrative that they were trying to create.
This leads me to now say that whether or not they had the support of the majortiy of the German people German leaders should burn underneath their American masters.

To give you an idea of the complete dishonesty of capitalism, one can simply look at “minimum wage” laws. The MSM claims that minimum wage has been “increased” to $15/hour in Ontario, Canada. But this is probably a lie. Because if it was true, then working a full time job at minimum wage could easily earn you $2,500/month. But you will probably still only receive $1,000 to $1,200/month. In other words, you are receiving the exact same shitty wages as 10 to 15 years ago, despite the recent “increase” of minimum wage.
This isn’t just for minimum wage workers. Wages/incomes reached an all-time peak throughtout the world around 2005 to 2008. It is no longer possible to increase incomes/wages anymore because global oil extraction has already peaked 5 to 10 years ago. And now global oil extraction has already entered its permanent decline since 2018/2019.
As global oil extraction continues its perpeutal decline, less and less energy will be available for industrial activities. Meaning the price of industrial products (especially that of food) continues to skyrocket. And wages can no longer increase. But unemployment and poverty skyrockets. This means that starvation and social strife increases. Fewer and fewer people can afford enough access to food and other goods. And thiefs, robberies and crimes aka social strife dramatically increases.

What I have done a good job on I can not say. Therefore the message does not help me rinse and repeat until I am arrested or die.
One think that I can improve on though is the above comment. What I left out is that the reason the interest rates are rising is not directly because of the deficits. Those are the indirect cause. The direct cause is rising inflation which is blamed on the deficits not on the fact that food production of key foods is rapidly declining due to bad agricultural outcomes of recent harvests. Nor are other causes of inflation batted about.
I am sorry if I disappointed you with my incomplete report. At least no one was killed by friendly fire. Nor did my answer contribute to the collapse of industrial civilization.

A “planned economy” is not really socialism…since the government is/was always controlled by the rich, elites. And the rich, elites acquire their wealth by demanding the price to ALWAYS be higher than the wages paid to workers. To make a profit. A “planned economy” or a “market economy” are both variants of capitalism…since it is all based off of extracting profits from wage labour. Really, the USSR, China, North Korea and etc are not really socialism (in reality), when they are just state-controlled capitalism.
Of course, socialism doesn’t work, because it has never actually existed in the first place. Capitalism has always been the status quo for human civilization (at least for industrial civilization). The prior social systems of civilization (i.e. feudalism and chattel slavery) are just slave-keeper/imperialist predecessors of capitalism. I doubt there will be any successor to capitalism, because the human species will be extinct relatively soon.
