A video I made today which speaks for itself:
Good job. Pulls it all together quite concisely.

Thanks for putting that together.

Depressing I know, but the simple fact is that nothing will be done because of entrenched self-interests, both at an individual level and nation-state level.

If the truth is depressing, then our priorities are way out of whack.
Nothing is being done to combat climate change and nothing will be done because there is no viable alternative to fossil fuels. I wish Roubini and the Prof. from Columbia (?) would just come out and say it. Who is going to volunteer to go back to a pre-carbon economy? No one. The bigger fish will swallow you up in a heartbeat.
The financiers are trying to secure their grip and make money as the carbon economy and ecosystems collapse. There is a great video about this on TRNN called ‘The ‘Privatization of Chile’s Sea’ : http://therealnews.com/t2/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=31&Itemid=74&jumival=9528
Thanks again; I really appreciate the effort you put into your blog.

Money, the god of capitalism, will reign supreme until the Earth’s natural capital, the true wealth of the world, runs dry.
Then we can eat the money.
The video you linked to expresses this sentiment:
And doesn’t this sound like ‘America: a Banana Republic with Nukes‘:
And of course neoliberal capitalism and the theft of the commons through privatization…

Thanks. That means a lot coming from you. Apparently noted investigative reporter David Cay Johnston has even stopped by this blog. He was wondering why I don’t use my real name.
Here is why:

Sorry about that. I just noticed your message which posted automatically before I could censor it. Julian Assange is snickering.

That’s good. He doesn’t have a lot to snicker about these days.

We’re about to take off on our trip here. Before I go, your current book looks to be right up my alley:

Stanford’s Paul and Anne Ehrlich published a paper in the Royal Society dead on for this blog. It’s titled “Can a collapse of global civilization be avoided?” Radio Ecoshock has an 18 minute interview with Paul about it, found here:

Alex,
Thanks for posting that interview. I’m working on a post concerning environmental toxins that Professor Cribb sent me and which Professor Ehlrich talks about in your interview.
The Ponzi scheme of Casino Capitalism needs to be dismantled before collapse of industrial civilization can be avoided. A 1-10% chance for global civilization’s survival sounds optimistic to me.
